Meditation=Living in the moment

Meditation is an art which promises inner peace of mind and tranquility to the soul.
While all of us know that meditation probably has may solutions to our problems, we often don't try to meditate as it is considered as difficult for normal human beings ,and due to ignorance about it, we think meditation as the domain of the mendicants,sanyasis,rishis or godmen.

I had also never thought about meditation as an easy practice ,but a short video on my friend's  facebook page about meditation changed my notions about  meditation  and forced me to think of  it as very much achievable, meaningful and easy to understand.

Well, the monk in the video said that simplest of meditation techniques is 'Breathing in , then breathing out and just remaining conscious of your breaths while doing so'.

His sentence about remaining conscious and taking note of your deep breaths was the turning point of my thoughts and then I began to add my own annotations to it .

Perhaps, the monk wanted to emphasize on the  importance of living in the present moments,enjoying the power of your existence and soothe your mind by meditating on the power of breathing.
Now, we all know that breathing is essential for life ,but how many of us are enjoying it fully ?

By giving importance to your breathing techniques ,by feeling  your breath, you come close to the creator of the world and in a way ,you talk to him directly.It is also said that God resides within your own self (अहं ब्रहमस्मि),so you communicate to your own inner/outer world, creator of the universe by trying to reach out to him through your deep breaths and feeling his existence within.

Also, your entire world is in the present only.Your action,thoughts in the present is going to determine your future, so giving importance to your present is of paramount importance. So, indirectly this meditation technique tells you to dwell on the present and enjoy the power within yourself.

As you are an intrinsic part of this universe, your actions and your thoughts also contribute to this immense formation called universe .So, by imparting purity and deep thought to your present actions will go a long way in deciding your future and future of the world also.

So, meditation in very simple terms is giving importance to your present actions and thoughts  as they are going to determine your future.
